Join us for a 5 day pilgrimage trip to Kedarnath which is one of the sacred dhams of Uttarakhand State in North India, Tungnath Temple which is one of the Panch Kedars and World's highest Shiva Temple. We are also going to trek to Chandrashila, the Moon Rock from where you can witness the best sunrise of your life and view all the major peaks of Uttarakhand. About Kedarnath Kedarnath temple is one of the sacred pilgrimage centre in Northern India, located on the bank of Mandakini river at an altitude of 3584 meters above sea level. The historical name of this region is "Kedar Khand". Kedarnath temple is a part of Char Dhams and Panch Kedar in Uttarakhand and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India. Due to extreme weather conditions, the temple is open to the general public only between the months of April (Akshaya Tritiya) and November (Kartik Purnima, the autumn full moon). During the winters, the vigraha (deity) from Kedarnath temple is carried down to Ukhimath and where the deity is worshiped for the next six months. Kedarnath is seen as a homogenous form of Shiva, the 'Lord of Kedarkhand', the historical name of the region. The temple is not directly accessible by road and has to be reached by a 18 kilometres uphill trek from Gaurikund. Pony service is available to reach the kedarnath temple. According to Hindu legends, the temple was initially built by Pandavas, and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the holiest Hindu shrines of Shiva. Pandavas were supposed to have pleased Shiva by doing penance in Kedarnath.   About Tungnath : peacefully adorned on the Chandranath Parvat is the highest Shiva temple in the world and the highest Panch Kedar temple of Uttarakhand. It is the third (Tritiya Kedar) in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars. Tungnath is perched at an elevation of 3, 680 metres above sea level and is considered to be more than 1,000 years old. About Chandrashila : Chandrashila is summit of the Tungnath . It literally means "Moon Rock". It is located at a height of about 3,690 metres (12,110 ft) above sea level. This peak provides views of the Himalayas, including Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba peaks. There are various legends associated with this place. According to one such legend, this is the place where Lord Rama meditated after defeating the demon-king Ravana. Day 2

Date : May 28, 2021

Trek to Kedarnath Temple

Trekking Distance : 18 Kms
Trekking Time : 8-10 Hours
Level : Intermediate

We will start our trek from Gaurikund in the early morning so that we can enjoy the views and trek. Kedarnath Mandir (Kedarnath Temple) is a Hindu temple (shrine) dedicated to Shiva. Located on the Garhwal Himalayan range near the Mandakini river. We will start our trek early morning at 06 AM and by evening we will reach Kedarnath Temple. There will be many shops on the way to have food. We will stay near the Kedarnath Temple. Breakfast and Dinner will be provided.

Day 3

Time : 8:00 am

Trek down to Gaurikund and Stay in Sitapur/Gaurikund

Trekking Distance : 18 Kms
Trekking Time : 5-6 Hours
Level : Intermediate

Early morning we will start our trek down to Gaurikund. In the evening We will visit Triguninarayan Temple where marriage of Shiva and Parvati happened. Breakfast and Dinner will be provided.

Day 4

Date : May 30, 2021

Drive to Chopta and trek to Tungnath

Trekking Distance : 3.5 kms
Level : Easy

After breakfast We will start our journey towards Chopta. After reaching Chopta We will start our trek towards Tungnath. It will be a 3.5 kms trek. We will reach Tungnath by evening and enjoy the sunset. Breakfast and Dinner will be provided.

Sunrise trek to Chandrashila and drive back to Rishikesh

Travelling Distance - 220 kms
Travelling time : 8-10 Hours
Trekking Distance : 6 kms

At 04 AM We will leave for Sunrise trek to Chandrashila. Chandrashila is summit of the Tungnath. It literally means "Moon Rock". It is located at a height of about 4,000 metres above sea level. This peak provides views of the Himalayas, including Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba peaks. The trek would be around 1.5 Kms long.

After enjoying the Sunrise, We will trek down to Chopta and after breakfast, we will start our journey back to Rishikesh. On the way We will try to visit Vashisht Cave if time permits.

  • The stay will be provided in a traditional homestay or GMVN Dormitory which is run by Uttarakhand Government. Triple/Quadruple sharing will be done on the basis of Male/Female count. This is a budget trip and focus is more towards experiencing local culture and promoting tourism in the village.
  • Vegetarian indian meal will be provided. Only Breakfast and Dinner will be provided as mentioned in day wise itinerary. Participants have to take care of their own lunch.Trip Leader

In day time its hot and sunny. The mornings and nights are colder where temperature is around 0 degrees. However this speculation is based on experience and you can never predict weather in the Himalayas.
